ISLE OF RONA HOLIDAY COTTAGES

Rona's only permanent residence, Rona Lodge is where Bill Cowie our caretaker/ manager lives, overlooking Big Harbour (Acarseid Mhor) - one of the most beautiful anchorages in Scotland.  The three cottages  are 1 ½ miles over a hill track from the pier at Big Harbour - a spectacular walk with the Cuillins at your back, Torridon to the North and Lewis and Harris far away across the Minch. Your luggage and supplies travel by 4-wheel drive bike and trailer (there are no shops or pubs on the island so visitors should bring enough provisions for their stay).

Right at the end of the track, in a secluded location, 'Escape' - the recently renovated former Rona Manse overlooks the tidal bay of Dry Harbour (Acarseid Thioram) from an elevated site with a fantastic west facing views across the Sound of Raasay towards Skye and the pinnacle, 'The Old Man of Storr'. 50 metres from the enclosed garden a pond, which attracts otters, has been created on the grassy slope where the Highland cattle come to feed and the Rona red deer feed in the early morning and late evening.

  • Inside, the cottage has just been extensively renovated from a bare substantial shell. The rooms are light, clean, cosy with under floor central heating, radiators and oak floors upstairs, wood burning stoves, gas cooker, fridge freezer, wash machine and dryer. The views and sunsets are breathtaking from this elevation.
  • Spectacular sea views from every room, and from the observation porch and deck.
  • Sleeps 4, both bedrooms upstairs have en suite showers. The master bedroom has a double bed, the second bedroom has two single beds.
  • This is a non smoking and pet free house.
  • All fuel, bed linen and towels are included.
  • Very secluded

Win a free return holiday!

In order to help us on Saturday changeover days, visitors to Seascape, Skyescape and Escape have the chance to enter into a draw where a week’s holiday is up for grabs. The simple rule is that you leave the cottages as you found them.

This year's winner is Prue Waters and her camera-shy owners Brian and Gill who are returning for a holiday in 2007.
