Ronan Martin is a great friend of Rona and frequent visitor, sailing to the island on his yacht.  In 2007, Rona was the venue for the first date on the 'Crossbow's Ceilidh' tour by Ronan, Jonny Hardy and friends, which we hope will return on an annual basis.  Although most of Ronan's visits invariably end in an impromptu ceilidh in the kitchen at Rona Lodge, and we are delighted to be able to offer his first cd for sale - a wonderful reminder of many happy musical evenings here.

"This recording by Ronan Martin is the first traditional fiddle album from the Isle of Skye. The album features Jonny Hardie (Old Blind Dogs) on guitar and was created during four special days at Jonny’s family home in Strathdon where it was recorded ‘live’. The aim was to capture the energy of the Highland fiddle and the atmosphere of the historic surroundings. This approach to traditional music has resulted in a fresh and dynamic recording. The album includes many bagpipe tunes and Gaelic songs from the tradition and there are extensive sleeve notes containing stories and background information."
